Critical Update for OS 10.2.1.3175 to 10.2.1.3247

[ Edited ]

Are you running OS 10.2.1.3175/2941?  It is highly recommended that you immediately update to 10.2.1.3247/2977 to get rid of a serious battery charging issue.  The issue is that when the battery gets depleted to the point where the device shuts off it may not charge and leave you with a dead device.  While the KB only mentions the Z10 it's conceivable it could happen to the other devices too.  I've seen quite a few instances of this on Z10's on the forums here already.    KB36038

Fortunately, BlackBerry quickly patched it but, as usual, it can take a while for carriers to push out the update.  You can either wait until your carrier releases the update (risking a bricked device due to a dead battery) or you can get the patch now.  I've included some instructions below on how to easily get the patch now.   It takes only a few minutes and is safe to do as long as you download the correct OS file for your device below.

Again, this update is ONLY if you are already on OS 10.2.1.3175/2941.

1.  You need to download the utility app, called Sachesi, on your PC or Mac:

Sachesi for Windows

Sachesi for Mac

2.  Download the appropriate OS update file for your device model below (saving to Desktop is the easiest):

Z10 STL100-1:

http://cdn.fs.sl.blackberry.com/fs/qnx/production/3097fc67a0e3800cb6feca567ffe58d8bcef1972/com.qnx.c...

Z10 STL100-2, -3, & -4

Q5 All Models

Q10 All Models

Z30 All Models

Z3 All Models:

http://cdn.fs.sl.blackberry.com/fs/qnx/production/3097fc67a0e3800cb6feca567ffe58d8bcef1972/com.qnx.c...

3.  Plug in device via USB.

4.  Open Sachesi (make sure it says "connected to <device model>" on the Search page.)

5.  Click the Install tab.

6.  If the OS file is on the desktop just drag it into the Install box under the Install tab of Sachesi.  If you saved the file somewhere else you'll need to use My Computer or Windows Explorer to navigate to where you saved the OS file first.  Simply drag that file into the Install box under the Install tab of Sachesi.

7.  When it's done, the device will reboot.  Done.  You're patched.

My apologies. The Z3 link should be the same as the Z10 -2, -3, & -4, Q5, Q10, and Z30:

I'll have the mods make the correction.

Thanks!

Re: Critical Update for OS 10.2.1.3175 to 10.2.1.3247

Hi John

This is my first time updating Z10 using Sachesi, previously I only know Autoloader

Already download all the file (Sachesi.exe & OS File - I'm using STL-001 one) but the extention file of OS is .Signed. While Sachesi only able to install file .Bar

How do I convert the .Signed file into .Bar file? And should I extract the file using Winrar first?

This thread is ONLY if you're already on OS 10.2.1.3175.

That said, I just checked the link I posted for the STL100-1 and the download I've linked is a .bar file.  If you're downloading something else please post in another thread for help.  This thread is only for the patch to 10.2.1.3175.

Re: Critical Update for OS 10.2.1.3175 to 10.2.1.3247

Yes Im already at 3175

The problem is, when I drag down the os file winchester.factory_sfi-10.2.1.3247-nto+armle-v7+signed.bar, nothing happened

There's only detail "Connected to OMAP4470_ES1.0_HS_London_Rev:09 at 169.254.142.85." and nothing happened then

Disconnect the device and close Sachesi. Reconnect the device and open Sachesi. Try the install again.

Re: Critical Update for OS 10.2.1.3175 to 10.2.1.3247

Hi Clark

Finally, I successfull installed this os

I don't know why it could happen, so the issues start when :

1. I download the OS using Internet Download Manager (IDM). And the file suddenly converted to Winrar at my PC. Sachesi won't detect this file due the different extension

2. I download the OS using desktop browser (Chrome). This is the right .bar file that I can use and sachesi would detect

My question then is : Why if I download the OS using IDM, the file suddenly converted to Winrar?

But anyway, thank you so much for your help. Hopefully my Z10 getting better with this os

Cheers!

Re: Critical Update for OS 10.2.1.3175 to 10.2.1.3247

Hi everyone,

I'm from Portugal and i have a z10 STL2 running under 10.2.1.2941 / 10.2.1.3175. This update doesn't show via OTA on my device. Should I make the update with sachesi? Can expect any issues after the update?
