How To OTA Sync BB10 and non-BES Outlook (Overview)

Choices and instructions concerning configuring wireless synchronization of Calendar

and Contacts between a PC/Outlook platform and a BlackBerry 10 mobile device

There are basically two choices to make to accomplish this, and they relate to the resulting "clutter" within your Outlook interface (comparison images below)...the resulting functionality is the same with either approach:

  1. If you are OK with having multiple Calendar/Contact "containers" within your Outlook interface, then you can stop reading this now, and instead proceed directly to the instructions provided by the BlackBerry Helpblog:
  2. If you would prefer to have a "cleaner" Outlook interface for Calendar and Contacts, then proceed to the thread linked below for step-by-step instructions as to how to create a new Outlook profile:

These images depict the resulting differences (Outlook 2007) from the above two approaches

Option 1

More Containers

Option 2

Fewer Containers

Sorry only works if you have a Windows PC, not a Mac.

Exactly...hence including, in the heading line of the post, "PC/Outlook platform".

Re: How To OTA Sync BB10 and non-BES Outlook (Overview)

OK well I read all this stuff about how to sync the Z10 with outlook basically by re-configuring your entire programme. But this won't work for me. When I had a Bold 9900 - I used to sync it fully (wired) with my home computer using Blackberry desktop software and then with my work calendar only using Blackberry desktop software also wired. My company computer systems will not allow any form of wireless interaction from an "outside" phone.

Is there a solution for this? Or is this another example of an enhancement that actually isn't an enhancement. I am a loyal BB man - the Z10 is my 4th BB and it is full of wonderful little quirks and methods for things that were never really a problem to me! It is a solution to a problem that never existed.

Buying a Z10 and finding out that it won't sync with two computers using a wire  is, to me, like buying a car  and turning up to collect it to find it has only 2 wheels.

I have to say i am very dissapointed that most of the functionality that I need from a BB has now gone and I am equally dissappointed that I am now stuck with the Z10 for 2 years. I am afraid that after two years of this torture - of non syncing calanders, it is unlikely I will have another BB for this reason alone! :-(

I hope that someone has got a solution for this!

Re: How To OTA Sync BB10 and non-BES Outlook (Overview)

Thanks for your reply, but the first line about the updated Link software is "we looked for 2 way outlook sync and it wasn't there"!

Is there ever going to be a solution for this or have I got a duff system?

Cheers,

Peter
