Radio FM in BB Q10

As many others I'm a loyal follower of BlackBerry and I'm happy to see there is hope in the future for us. I have always thought BlackBerry had a lot to offer but also was missing some essentials when compared to most smartphones nowadays. My question is: will the BlackBerry Q10 let me listen to FM radio wIthout needing to use the internet connection as my Torch 9800 obliged me to?

Re: Radio FM in BB Q10

Having a quick look through Blackberry App World there are radio stations but nothing like a  general FM radio app.

Re: Radio FM in BB Q10

That's what I was afraid of. I love listening to the radio wherever I go but using apps means to use traffic data and that is not worth it in my case. I have to give retirement to my Torch 9800 this year and I was hoping not to leave BlackBerry to enjoy this feature. The Curve 9360 with OS 7.1 had already introduced the Radio FM although is not the device I'm looking for due to other reasons... I will have to wait and see if I'm lucky and the Q10 includes it.

Re: Radio FM in BB Q10

You know it's called the z10 not q10.

Re: Radio FM in BB Q10

My mistake. I just searched q10. I didn't know there was a q10 lol.

Although if I had known that I would had chosen a keyboard not a touch screen.

Re: Radio FM in BB Q10

I love BlackBerry's physical keyboard. That's the reason why I will have to wait as the Q10 has not been released yet. Both (Z10 and Q10) share OS 10 and I guess most of the features but I still keep my fingers crossed for the radio FM receiver to be one of the differences.

It will be April or so until the keyboard version Q10 is released.

Re: Radio FM in BB Q10

here is the situation for BlackBerry 7 phones:
the FM antenna is available only on the budget family (Curve), and not on the high end family (Torch & Bold).

I think it will be the same for the upcoming BlackBerry 10 phones.

And since the Q10 is part of the high-end series, I do not think that it will have an FM antenna.

But I have not read anything about that, not even rumors.
