Appointments with Start Dates Prior to 1 Jan 1970

I don't believe I could be the first to report this but I have searched the forums and I cannot find anything about this problem, let alone a fix for it.  Anyway, here it is....

If you have a recurring appointment in Outlook that has a start date prior to 1 Jan 1970 (eg a birthday reminder for someone over 40), then this fails to sync to the device.  The same applies in reverse - appointments like this that are created on the device never appear in Outlook.

BES does attempt to synchronise the appointment but this results in the following error from BlackBerry Messaging Agent

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent BES Agent 1
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20216
Date:  02/06/2009
Time:  14:14:11
User:  N/A
Computer: BES
Description:
{USER NAME HERE} Synchronize() failed: ERR_INVALID_DATA, Tag=38633

I have massacred my Outlook calendar, changing dates to make the appointments work, but it is not a very elegant solution.

Is this a known bug?  If so, does anyone know if there is a patch/update to correct it.  If not, what is the best way to go about reporting it?

Thanks,

Allan.

That issue was resolved in BES 4.1.5.

Re: Appointments with Start Dates Prior to 1 Jan 1970

Thanks - I guess I didn't look hard enough.

We are running 4.1.5.26 and we are still having the problem.  Was it solved in the initial release of 4.1.5 or a subsequent one?

The KB article you linked to only describes the problem, it does not offer a work-around, since wired sync is disabled when using wireless sync.

Re: Appointments with Start Dates Prior to 1 Jan 1970

We have now updated to version 4.1.6.20 and the appointments prior to 1970 are still not being synchronized.  If I force a calendar update, we see the following error:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent BES Agent 1
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20454
Date:  03/06/2009
Time:  16:54:18
User:  N/A
Computer: BES
Description:
{USER} MAPIMailbox::CalendarSlowSyncParent - GetRIMCalendar failed

We get one instance of this error for each calendat entry prior to 1970.

If this problem was fixed in an earlier release, do we have something wrong with our server config?

What version mail server and what version CDO is installed on the BES?

Re: Appointments with Start Dates Prior to 1 Jan 1970

The BES and Exchange (2007) both have CDO.DLL v6.5.8039.0 in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\ExchangeMapi

The Exchange server also has a file called EXCDO.DLL v8.1.291.1 in the folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\bin

How many phones have you tested?  What is the software version of these phones? Do you have any other Calendaring issues?

Re: Appointments with Start Dates Prior to 1 Jan 1970

If this was fixed in an earlier release, perhaps the problem is specific to our BES.  Has anyone else seen this behaviour in 4.1.6?
