BES Public Folder requirement for Exchange 2007

Hi all,

Could someone explain why Public Folders are needed for Exchange 2007 and what particular component of the Public Folder is the BES server looking for? The reason I ask is, we are deploying a pure Exchange 2007 environment with Outlook 2007 clients so we don't have a need for Public Folders from that perspective. However the BES 4.1.6 Install guide and other posts in this forum indicate that the Public Folder store is required. Basically I need to know why this is the case.

Regards
