BES consolidation and migration

Hi,

1st and foremost I'm afraid i have zero BES experience unfortunately!

I am currenlty contracting for an IT company who have acquired another IT company. I am onboard to build a new infrastructure and migrate AD/Exchange and other services to the new infrastructure. This includes consolidating both companies BES environments. A new BES server with seperate sql server will be provisioned and users migrated to the new environment.

Both companies have their own forest, own AD, own exchange 2010 and BES servers. There is no trust between the 2 companies but there will be trusts from the new infrastructure to each company for AD/exch migration purposes, etc..

I need to know all I can and will no doubt need to contact BES by phone to discuss the finer details etc..

However, I am at present looking for technical guidance and best practices as I have never used a Blackberry let alone embarked on something like this!

Any help appreciated.

Regards

Nathan

Re: BES consolidation and migration

Multiple AD forests should be ok as long as

1) There is a two way trust between them
2) They are all within the same Exchange organization

If both going to a new Exchange Org, then you have to backup, wipe, restore, and activate on new BES unless you want to buy services from BNator that can migrate them with out wiping.

Since BES 5.0 is so different, I would set it up all on its own and once tested and running, use transporter to move users over which will not require any activation if in same exchange org.
