Blackberry Enterprise 4.0.0.110 Upgrade Path

Hi everyone, I have a quick question that hopefully someone out there will have an easy answer for.

I've come into a situation where a client is running the original 4.0.0.110 release of the Blackberry Enterprise Server and I'm looking at the service packs here and was wondering if I could upgrade the server to the latest build with one upgrade or if I must install the service packs one by one.

Thanks for your time.

Re: Blackberry Enterprise 4.0.0.110 Upgrade Path

BES service packs are cumulative.  You can apply the most recent one and all previous updates will be included.

Are you looking to go to the most recent version of 4.0 or 4.1?  4.0 SP7 = Free; 4.1 is a paid upgrade unless you have a TSupport contract that includes upgrades for free.

Re: Blackberry Enterprise 4.0.0.110 Upgrade Path

Thanks for the swift reply Andy, right now we're just looking at updating v4.0 until they've approved to purchase v4.1.

So this means I can just install Service Pack 7 and then the Maintenance Releases?

Speaking of 4.1, I was reading that 4.0 does NOT support Exchange 2003 SP2, only 4.1.

Is Exchange 2003 SP2 even compatable with 4.0? Or is it just not officially supported?

Exchange 2003 SP 2 is supported with BES 4.0 SP4 - KB04586 - BlackBerry Enterprise Server support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2

Re: Blackberry Enterprise 4.0.0.110 Upgrade Path

After installing only the service pack (7) and none of the roll-ups the devices no longer recieve messages.

Is there something I must do on the handhelds?

Restart the BES again.

Do you see errors / alerts in the CTRL or ALRT log?

Alright well this is odd. All of my test messages have come through that I've sent over the internet from gmail.

However, anything i send from the blackberry is kicked back almost instantly.
