I have encountered this before, and now currently have a client with the same issue:
for some reason Outlook (or her BB) has taken contacts that were previously complete (email, phone number, etc) and created seperate contacts- one with just phone number- (probably for text messaging) and another with the full details.
This becomes apparent when she goes to send an email to one of these contacts and autocomplete fills out the name, but then she is given an error saying that there is "no email address associated" with the contact.
She is using a Blackberry on T-Mobile, and is sync'd via an exchange server 2007.
I did go into her email in Outlook and confirm that these contacts had been created (the ones with only a phone number)- these had not been there before.
