Desktop Manager disabled Wireless Synchronization

One of my BB users decided to install the Desktop Manager 5.0 and when doing so selected to sync with her desktop.  This has disabled her wireless sync with our BES.  I cannot change this setting on the device (8830 World Edition) or in the Desktop software.  When looking at the sync options it simply says the device cannot sync wirelessly.  I am assuming this is because during installation the user said she wanted to sync with her email, calender, and address book.......

I have uninstalled the software and am downloading it right now (why is there only a multi-language download?) and I am hoping that when installing the desktop manager I can select the correct mode so that she can back up the device but is syncs with BES using the wireless network.

Has anyone seen this and how did you go about setting the device back to wireless sync with BES?

Thanks!

Re: Desktop Manager disabled Wireless Synchronization

Is the device still connected to the DM?

Remove it from the USB cable.

Now, look at the Calendar Options or Address Book Options. Is the wireless reconcoliation option available or still greyed out?

Re: Desktop Manager disabled Wireless Synchronization

It was still connected at the time.  I am in the process of re-installing the software.  Just so you know.  Even when the device was not connected, I could not change the option away from desktop for the calender, email, or address book.  More later - in the process of install now.

Re: Desktop Manager disabled Wireless Synchronization

In the end I uninstalled the desktop software, re-installed the desktop software not selecting any sync options.  Then re-activated the handheld on the BES and the user is back to where they should be.

There should be LARGE warnings to users of Work Email to contact their administrator before installing the desktop software.  This process took up 2 + hours of expensive time.

Re: Desktop Manager disabled Wireless Synchronization

I instruct users not to install DM. If they want to transfer media use mass storage mode.

Might even think about blocking it with IT policy now too.
