Full installation files for BES for Domino 4.1.7

I'm well aware that this question has been asked, and answered, before but I still can't get my hands on the above.

I want to upgrade from BES 4.1.7 to 5.0.3 and one of the prerequisites is to remove MDS Integration Service, the documented method is to run the full installation unchecking MDS-IS in the process.

If I try to get a trial version of BES, I'm only offered version 5 (obviously given that 4.1.7 is out of support) and if I go where KB25047 tells me (the BESC) then I'm simply redirected to the Service Pack, Hotfix and Maintenance release page.

I've had to abandon one upgrade because of this... any help appreciated.

BTW - I do not have a support contract with RIM.

Re: Full installation files for BES for Domino 4.1.7

You wont need the installer files if useing transporter to move users to a new BES server.

for an inplace upgrade, you will need the files.

the BESC should give you the full installer, it is possible that the SP7 has the files you need.

When installing BES, there is a folder on root of drive that has all the installer files, maybe it is still there.

Re: Full installation files for BES for Domino 4.1.7

Thanks for the reply, you got it... it's an inplace upgrade.

The only BES installation files I have are upgrader and likewise the only files available from BESC are hotfixes and service packs (the very same page you're directed to via blackberry.com).

We migrated our BES to new HW some time ago so there's no sign of the installer files in the root of my drive.

I was kind of hoping I'd missed something obvious on BESC...

Re: Full installation files for BES for Domino 4.1.7

For what it's worth, I found this KB article that explains an alternative way of removing the MDS Integration Service by upgrading the configuration database.

http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB25012

It remains to be seen if this works... I hope so because I can't get hold of the full installation package for love nor money.

Re: Full installation files for BES for Domino 4.1.7

That is what you need,

Go to the downloadsite

Get besn_upgrader_4.1.7.exe

uncheck MDS Integration service during the installation

Also, you can install a new server and migrate the users with the transporter tool.

Re: Full installation files for BES for Domino 4.1.7

Thanks but, as its name would suggest, that's an upgrade package, not the full set of installation files.  If you run setup.exe from that package you don't get the option to remove any of the services... it just upgrades what you've already got.

I find it staggering that this is a documented prerequisite of the upgrade path from 4.1.7 to 5.0.3 but RIM seems to have made it virtually impossible (actually impossible in my case) to get hold of the necessary tools for the job.
