I'm new to the BES world and have been asked to migrate our existing BES for Groupwise (188.8.131.52) infrastructure to our new Exchange infrastructure (4.1.6). From reading some posts and documentation I believe this is the process I need to follow, but would like any advice on potential issues, workarounds or whether my approach is correct.
Thanks in advance

Not just wipiing - you'll have to remove the policy also.
Policies are different between 4 and 5.
Even more so between GroupWise and Exchange.

I would recommend this third party program which has saved our a lot of time and efforts to perform migration task from Novell Groupwise to MS Exchange Server: Groupwise recovery
Now all mailboxes are working fine on MS Exchange Server. Best things about this migration tool are that it offers multiple mailboxes migration and copies all profile information to MS Exchange server. A free trial version is also there !

Here is an advanced and most recommended migration tool that helped us in quick migration from Novell GW 12.0 to Exchange Server 2013 version with full accuracy: Quick GroupWise to Exchange Server Migration Tool
This cost effective application saved ours a lot of time and efforts.
A free trial version is also available on its official website !
