How Do I Disconnect From My Office BlackBerry Enterprise Server?

I recently purchased a Blackberry Curve 8330 and voluntarily had my work IT office connect it to the agency enterprise server so that my work emails could be pushed to my phone.  Now I realize that the agency restricts web browser sites in the same way it does from desktop computers in the office.

Is it possible to control when I am connected to the server from my phone?  In other words:

1. Can I temporarily disconnect and then reconnect from the server without being at work and my office desktop?

2. Will doing so allow me then to use my browser IN PRIVATE to visit sites unrestricted?

3. When I reconnect to the server will it be possible for my IT office to review my browser history?

Re: How Do I Disconnect From My Office BlackBerry Enterprise Server?

use blackberry internet browser instead:

On the BlackBerry device Home screen, click Options.

Click Browser or click Advanced Options > Browser (depending on the BlackBerry Device Software version you are running).

Set the Default browser configuration field to Internet Browser.

Display the menu and click Save.

>> Yes and no.  Every time you sever your connection to the BES you'll need someone's intervention to get re-activated on the BES

In other words:

1. Can I temporarily disconnect and then reconnect from the server without being at work and my office desktop?

>> Yes, wipe the device.  Use Jl_cmder; it is nice.

2. Will doing so allow me then to use my browser IN PRIVATE to visit sites unrestricted?

>> Yes.

3. When I reconnect to the server will it be possible for my IT office to review my browser history?

>> No, unless you have them saved as favorites ...

Check to see what gets picked up by Automatic wireless backup when you are activated on a BES

Re: How Do I Disconnect From My Office BlackBerry Enterprise Server?

I have a similar situation (sprint 8330), I have seperated the two browsers and I have several questions.

1. Under the normal browser, if I do not bookmark, can my work IT see my history or active web sites?

2. Can my work IT see my apps or the websites that my apps access?

3. Can my work BES track my location through the GPS?  If so, can I disable the work BES GPS without disabling the normal GPS?

Thanks for your help.
