Installing Blackberry Manager on my laptop for remote administration

Can I (or what are the steps) install the Blackberry Manager (v 4.1.2.25) on my laptop so I can run it from there instead of remoting into the Blackberry server to add a user, etc? Do I just insatll it and point it to the database? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Re: Installing Blackberry Manager on my laptop for remote administration

Sure, you can absolutely.  Just read the installation docs and follow the steps.

Personally, I generally recommend not doing this as it is slow and any time you upgrade the BES you also need to upgrade your manager.  Using an older / newer version of the manager is not supported and can damage your environment.

[ Edited ]

on BES 4.1.6 it works faster on my laptop than RDP to the server log in and then wait for it to open up.

Also the OTA EA message looks like it came from me and not BESADMIN.

win win in my book.

I only have the BES upgrade file and had to download the full verion free trial to get it.

Weird way, but it works.

Of course the remote manager uses the users email profile unless you have send as rights to another account.

... and then you'd have to setup the MAPI profile for that user object.
