Sync issue from Bold to BES/Exchange

I've been working this problem for some time and still can't find a solution.

BES 4.1.6 (fully patched) on W2k3 fully patched
Blackberry Bold (fully updated)
Exchange 2003 (fully updated/patched) on W2k3 fully patched

When an appointment is entered in Outlook it sync's with the Bold. When an appointment is entered in the Bold it doesn't sync with Outlook/Exchange. Here's what I've tried so far:

Patching everything
Verifying that the two 'specific' .dll's are the same version on the BES and Exchange servers
Resending the Service Book and IT Policies
Verifying that wireless sync is active on the Bold calendar
Setting the wireless sync on the BES from 'undefined' to 'enabled'

Note that Curves can sync both ways with no issue.

I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Any help would be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks for this. I've been through all the steps and the listed parameters are correct.

Re: Sync issue from Bold to BES/Exchange

the 'specific' dll means CDO.dll?

The KB knttyrope suggested are the only reasons for one way calendar sync, either permission or cdo.dll version.  further to that, how many bold users are affected?  Are they in the same user group as your Curve users, e.g. in a protected group? See http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB12309

Re: Sync issue from Bold to BES/Exchange

Forza,

Yes, I'm referring to the cdo.dll as well as one other whose name escapes me at the moment. If I take your meaning correctly regarding protected groups: the BESAdmin account is not a member of any of the protected groups. Additionally all the 'Send As' related permissions are set per the documentation.

Thanks!

Re: Sync issue from Bold to BES/Exchange

Sorry mate, I should explain myself clearer.  The KB I refered to is to give you an example what protected group means.  So any of those affected users are in the below groups?

The following are protected groups in Windows Server 2000:

  • Administrators
  • Domain Administrators
  • Enterprise Administrators
  • Schema Administrators

The following are protected groups in Windows Server 2000 SP4, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008:

  • Administrators
  • Account Operators
  • Backup Operators
  • Cert Publishers
  • Domain Administrators
  • Enterprise Administrators
  • Print Operators
  • Schema Administrators
  • Server Operators

Re: Sync issue from Bold to BES/Exchange

No worries, I appreciate your efforts on my behalf. To clarify: neither the Bold user 'objects' or the BESAdmin user 'object' (in MS AD W2k3) are members of any of the protected groups. This also applies to the Curve user.

Re: Sync issue from Bold to BES/Exchange

So I take you only have one Bold user and only that user has one-way calendar sync issue, right?  And I take both your Curve user and Bold user are on the same Exchange server and mailbox store?

If so, are you able to test that Bold user with a 'working' Curve and vice versa?

Re: Sync issue from Bold to BES/Exchange

I have two Bold users with the same 'one-way' sync problem. The Curve user does not have this problem. All users are in the same Exchange OU, Server, and Store.

Re: Sync issue from Bold to BES/Exchange

Fixed it!. I had hidden the user in the GAL for security reasons. That's what killed the sync. Thanks for your efforts on my behalf!
