Unread count does not accurately keep track

Have a BB Bold 9650. I ran OS 5 forever, no problems. Recently upgraded to latest version of OS 6. Have a new annoying problem. The unread count does not accurately maintain itself. I read emails on the desktop and delete them, it seems the BB can no longer keep up. I have always worked this way. I know how to clear the BB count and make it return to blank -- all read. I open the thing and slam it on the table to remove the battery and then put it back together. However, it is ridiculous to do this 2 or 3 times a day. Why can't OS 6 work just as good as OS 5? Any ideas on how to fix the unread count permanently? Thanks.

That is very definitely not a good idea.

 

You haven't said what your email server type is.. IMAP, POP, BES, or what?

 

I never had this problem with OS6 in the past. My first question would be when you upgraded, did that included setting up your email accounts fresh again on the BlackBerry, or did you just allow all the settings to migrate over from OS5 to 6?

We use BES. Yes, set up email account fresh again on the BB. No help at all, still have inaccurate unread counts. Usually happens after I close and delete messages from Outlook on my desktop.

This might be more relevant to your BESAdmin but you do know reconcile is a low priority task and can take up to 20 minutes.

I have also changed the messages state size to 1000 and it cured 99% of our issues.
The performance hit and RAM increase is almost nil on the BES box.

On Device also double check:

Make sure that Wireless Reconcile is set to On. Sometimes toggling that to off, saving it, then turning it back on.
Messages Options - Email reconciliation -
Delete on Mailbox and handheld,
wireless reconcile = Yes
On conflicts = Mailbox wins.

If still not working and you moved a user mailbox.
