Upgrade issues and no contacts

Trying to upgrade 4.1.7 to version 5.0.3. Completed a 4.1.3 to 4.1.7 upgrade but now we have a few end users phones failing to look up contacts. Phones are 8520 model.

 

Every thing else works. Any ideas?

 

Once I have this issue solved I will upgrade to 4,1.7 to 5.0.3. Does any one have some guidance on this as I get a incompatible database error (due to 4.1.7 being MSDN 2000). I have installed a separate instance with SQL 2005. But unsure of the next best way forward.

 

Any advice would be great please....

Trying to upgrade your 8520 model, what app? Is this an overall Operating System upgrade?

Are all these users on your BES server?

 

What other details can you provide?

 Platform is 4.1.7

 

 Phone failing is 8520 version 4.6.1.314

 

 Another Phone failing is 9900 7.1.0.267

 

 All other phone seems to be working but need to confirm.

 

 Issue is when sending email TO: is not auto filling as you type.

The overall goal is to get the client to BES 10.1

New fresh 10.1 virtual server BES install

New fresh Exch 2010 install virtual server

 

Existing is a Exch 2003 server

Existing Blackberry 4.1.7 needs to get to 5.0.4

 

Add managment of 5.0.4 to 10.1 virtual BES server

Old devices managed via 10.1/5.04

New devices managed by 10.1

 

Migrate off Exch 2003 to 2010 once the above is completed.

 

Issue with 4.1.7 to 5.0.3/5.0.4 is DB not supported.

 

Issue right now is some phones can not use TO: then search function after the 4.1.7 upgrade.

 

Make sense?

you have to stop BES services and upgrade to SQL express 2005 as MSDE is no longer supported

 

or you can move the database, your choice

i would also advise to do this after the upgrade

How to recreate the BlackBerry Enterprise Server MAPI profile   

 

 

for contacts if its only a few users affected Start with this.



In outlook Make a new folder for contacts called backup

move all contacts to the folder and wait for all to be removed from device

then pull battery on device and put back in

After device boots move contacts from backup to the contacts folder and wait for them all to appear

Make a new contact in outlook and see if it gets to the device.

Also this works well too
