having used Blackberry desktop to transfer data from Javelin to new Bold 9900, The icons for 3 seperate email accounts appeared on the menu (and no icon for the exchange account) but the email accounts themselves were not set up.
I then set up two of the email accounts manually which worked fine. I had to use the bb desktop software to set up the exchange email (just swapped default for exchange from the old bb to the new one). The third seperate email account though would not set up because there is a problem with it at the provider.
When I go into setup and email it just shows the 2 email accounts that are working. it doesn't show the exchange email account there and it doesnt show the email account that isnt working... however it does display the icon for it on the menu (home screen or whatever you call it).
Is that correct that the exchange account doesnt show up on the email accounts and also if the other email address doesnt show up on the email accounts but does have an icon on the menu... should I just 'hide' the icon? or will that leave an account in the ether that exisits but neither shows up in the email accounts or on the menu??

did you use device switch? if yes it should have enabled BES email. BES email will not show up under BIS at all.
most likely you need to do another activaion from BES.
BESAdmin's, please make a signature with your BES environment info.
BES 12 and BES 5.0.4 with Exchange 2010 and SQL 2012 Hyper V
