My Device: Not Specified

Assigning new devices to users, or the other way around.

Greetings,

Just a quick configuration question for the experts. I want to have the users with Blackberry phones that were purchased from their carrier to retain their contacts on their phone, in case they do not have them listed in their Exchange contacts. What is the best policy for them to retain those device contacts, I was thinking bidirectional access with the "device wins" setting enabled, however, will this guarantee that my users contacts in Outlook will not be removed? Oh and I am running BPS 4.1.4 if that makes any difference.

Re: Assigning new devices to users, or the other way around.

Keep the default setting unless you know for sure what they will do.

I keep mailbox wins setting.

If the device gets corrupted then possibly all their outlook contacts will be removed.

I would rather have the device be wrong than Outlook since it is easier to fix.

Teach users the importatnce of keeping their contacts in outlooks default folder and you will be better going forward.

You can copy contacts to the SIM card up to a certain amount if really unsure.

Also you can backup a device with desktop manager as well.
