Backing up BlackBerry smartphone from different organization

Hello all,

I need to backup data from BlackBerry smartphone of user that is currently not member of my organization. He is a new hire, and would like to have his data transferred to his new BlackBerry smartphone. At this moment I have no idea what data I need to transfer to new phone, and what his old BlackBerry model is. His new BlackBerry model will be either Curve 9320 or Bold 9900, subject to availability of later.

What are my options? ... what data will be restored to new phone if I do full/backup restore? ... will the restore process restore his former organization connection data, or will I get only user data and be able to connect his new(restored) BlackBerry to our BES? We are using BES Server Express 5.0.3. Will there be any problems restoring because of (probable) difference in smartphone models?

Thanks for any answer,

Guru III

Re: Backing up BlackBerry smartphone from different organization

list of what BES backs up here

How to enable Automatic Wireless Backup for a BlackBerry smartphone on a BlackBerry Enterprise Serve...

you have to backup the device which wont backup all BES items if any

wipe it

restore it from backup and then activate on your BES

I suggest playing with a device and see what happens, I dont support converting previous data here because of these issues.

might be better to sync to a PC first
