Installation procedures for BPS for Exchange 2007?

I have downloaded the "Getting Started Guide" pdf for BPS 4.1 SP4 and I am also watching the "Install Guide Modules" videos for BPS; however, they seem pretty specific to Exchange 2003. What I'm wondering is which one of these do I follow? There was some info in the pdf for creating the besuser and assigning rights, etc..., but then the videos keep going with doing regedits and I'm just wanting to know what to do, or whoe to follow?

Re: Installation procedures for BPS for Exchange 2007?

are you installing BPS on same machine as Exchange or separate machine? and if its a windows small business server?

Do this: create a AD account BESADMIN, and then assign permisisons as per this KB

http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02276

If installing BPS on separate box, download the MAPI/CDO from this link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=94274318-27C4-4D8D-9BC5-3E6484286B1F&displa...

and install on box prior to BPS installation. Downlaod ExchangeMapiCdo.EXE file, its towards the bottom of the page.

If installing BPS on same box as Exh, you will be installing MAPI/CDO as per this KB:

http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB12697

Make sure you are logged as besadmin on the machine where you are installing it and you have followed permisions KB posted above.

its pretty simple and straightforward.

Re: Installation procedures for BPS for Exchange 2007?

I have verified all of the above, and when I create a user and try to do an activation, it just sits there. I don't have the enterprise activation option under advanced options on the device, but I am trying this through the email setup stating that I have a BES server. I input my email address and the password that got  generated to my Exchange mailbox. THe dat file gets to my inbox as well. but my phone just stays at a activating screen. Any ideas?

Oh, forgot to mention that on the Blackberry Manager\Users screen, there is a 70:invalid pin error.

Re: Installation procedures for BPS for Exchange 2007?

Ok, I think I got this working... turned out that I had everything setup correctly in the first place, the cell carrier needed to refresh the "enterprise activation" on my device. Once that was done, I was able to complete activation and have all my mail info now.

sounds like the device was missing an enterprise data plan
