Internet Explorer 7.0 Security settings - Best Practices

Our company finds the following Blackberry Profession Pre-Installation requirement to NOT be a Best Practice:

"Microsoft® Internet Explorer Version 7.0 with Launching applications and

unsafe files (not secure) set to Enabled, Java and JavaScript turned on, and

the language preferences configured to display encoded web pages"

Is there another option?

Are you installing it on dedicated hardware?

I have heard some that firewall the server on port 80 and 443 (just blocking internet access from the BES) and only use proxy for MDS CS connections.

We'd like to install the BlackBerry Pro Server on our MS Exchange 2003 server, and the database on a separate SQL server.

You could still firewall off exchange and do about the same thing. Then you will have to manually update it after that. I have never been fond of installing anything on Exchange though.

The remote database is a good idea since it is the heart of BPS.
