MAPIMailbox::Send(ppMAPIMessage) - SubmitMessage (0x80070005) failed

I have checked permissions for the besadmin account and they look fine.  I used the imestest.exe to check everything and it looked fine.  All accounts are still getting this error when they try to send email from there phones.

I am running sbs 2003.

Have you set the send as permission within ADUC for the besadmin account?

What error is displayed on the HH?

Is the BPS on the SBS server?

Re: MAPIMailbox::Send(ppMAPIMessage) - SubmitMessage (0x80070005) failed

Errors In Event Viewer:

 This is first :  MAPIMailbox:Smiley Frustratedend(ppMAPIMessage) - SubmitMessage (0x80070005) faile

 Followed By: Send() failed: ERR_SUBMIT_MAIL, Tag=5053

SBS 2003 is running the software.  I have exchange sp2 installed.

ADUC:  I right clicked the domain -> Properties -> Security -> Advanced -> Edit besadmin -> Set Apply Onto:  User Object -> Send As is checked.

Exchange System Manager:

            besadmin delegates the First Administrative Group as  Exchange View Only Administrator.

            besadmin has  Send As, Recieve As, and Administer System Store under server and Mailbox Store.

 Domain Security Policy and Domain Controller Security Policy:

            besadmin has allow logon locally and logon as service under Security Settings -> Local Policies -> User Right Assignment

I have googled for hours and can't find a solution...

How to set the Send As permission:

1) Launch ADUC. (Start > Administrative Tools > Active Directory Users and Computers)

2) Enable the advanced features view so that you will be able to see the security tab. (Select menu - View > Advanced Features)

3) Highlight your domain, right click on it and click on "properties".

4) Click the "Security" tab and then click "Add".

5) Enter the name of your BES Admin Service Account and click OK.

6) Now highlight your BES Admin Service Account and press the "Advanced" button.

7) In the Advanced Security Settings window click "Add"

8) Enter the name of your BES Admin Service Account and click OK.

9) Now a new "permissions entry" window will pop up. You need to select "User Objects" in the "Apply onto" drop down box. (It’s down toward the bottom of the list).

10) Click the allow check box for the "Send As" right and select OK. Note: make sure that deny is not checked for this right.

11) Click OK to close the Advanced Security Settings window. The new entry for the BES Admin Service Account will show up in the permission entry list.

12) Click OK to close the properties window. The BES Admin Service Account should show Special Permissions set to allow.

The "Send As" permission has now been set. Please note that it may take up to 90 minutes for the Exchange Information Store to update its permissions cache

Can you answer the other two questions I asked?

I thought I did answer those questions.  I did exactly what you said already.  Did you read my post?

The phone just goes straight to an X and says can't send message.  The exact error is what I posted above...

Yes, I did read you post ... you answered the question about the location of the BPS oddly; I just noticed the answer.  I was expecting a yes / no answer; which you didn't provide.

On the handheld, go to the message and look at the error.

The error you're getting is permissions.  Is BES Admin a member of Domain Admins?

Re: MAPIMailbox::Send(ppMAPIMessage) - SubmitMessage (0x80070005) failed

Currently I am off site so I can't give you the specific error from the phone.  It is something like can't send message desktop something...

No, the besadmin is currently a member of administrators and domain users.

Again thanks for help...  The reason I wrote down the steps I took is because I am trying to find out if I am missing one.

Does this happen for every user?  or only specific users?

It happens to all of the phones.  The company only has 3 phones that they use.  They can recieve emails fine, but when they send they get the immediate X with a failure.  The event log always show the same errors.
