Public Folders and BESX

Hi folks, I'd like to know, ¿What is the main purpose of Public folders on BlackBerry devices (Exchange 2010 enviroment).

¿Are public folders still required in Exchange 2010? I've known that they were required in Exchange 2007 to do free\busy.

So, what is the main purpose or others on Exchange 2010?.

Thanks.

Re: Public Folders and BESX

According to the official RIM article below, it seem that BES can work without public folders. However, would it lose any functionality on the blackberry?

Need clarify those ideas :/

Thanks

Re: Public Folders and BESX

BES does not need Public Folder, you can use Exchange WebServices for Free/Busy Lookup.
See http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20157 for more information on how to configure EWS

Re: Public Folders and BESX

TY Oliwer.

However, based on your experience, ¿Is there some utility for PF on Blackberry devices?, Aside from sharing files with other people, what about use PF to "shared contacts",

How is it work?

Re: Public Folders and BESX

I hate Public Folders ^^ For BB - good luck. For some it worked, but for me it is always a pain.
You can do nothing more than contacts with PF. This article explains how to set it up http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB19111
