Really worth it?

I see potential in this software, but with all the troubles and it policies and such, is it really worth the effort to install and use?

Depends how and what you want to use it for.

Re: Really worth it?

I disagree, from reading the posts its sounds like all of this could be done with BIS and some other third party applications or using a public website that can provide similar 'features'.

I do not think that downloading all of my files to my BlackBerry over WiFi is a feature, why can't they just be streamed? Hello DLNA anyone? Bueller? The BB kind of supports an http interface to serve up the content, but not in a discoverable fashion. Going to try testing it out with Mediatomb and see how far I get. Open source FTW.

Re: Really worth it?

With BlackBerry Unite!, you can perform more with less in the home/SOHO environment and it is fully supported.

It was designed, developed and is supported by BlackBerry to work with your BlackBerry smartphone. Here are some of the features that may interest you.

1) Optional secure email delivery. All email sent from/delivered to the smartphone is encrypted like the BlackBerry Enterprise Server platform using AES encryption. This is optional should you wish not receive email or use another BlackBerry Solution for this.

2) Download media over Wi-Fi. Download Manager allows you to download music, pictures, vidoes, etc. onto your smartphone's external media card over the local Wi-Fi network which BlackBerry Unite! resides in.

3) Calendar and Contact sharing with up to five users. Do you have a contact that you think your family should have on their smartphone? Does your wife/husband have the soccer coach's number on her/his smartphone and you need it? Simply share it and everyone has it. Do you have an appointment you need to share with the rest of the family? Let them know by sharing it with the rest!

These are some of the features. I recommend you try it and let us know about your BlackBerry Unite! experience.
