BES10 installation fails

[ Edited ]

Hello,

We want to install BES10 (W2K8 R2 x64), but it directly fails when the installation starts:

<#03>[30000] (02/20 09:04:48.956):{0xA6C} Installing BlackBerry Administration...

<#03>[30000] (02/20 09:04:48.956):{0xA6C} CBASComp::BackupFiles: [C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Device Service\BAS\jboss\ejb\server\default\deploy\bas-ds.xml] not found.
<#03>[30000] (02/20 09:04:49.034):{0xA6C} Step RunInstall failed
<#01>[10000] (02/20 09:04:49.034):{0xA6C} [CMSIWrapper::Install]: Unknown error launching package [1639]
====== END OF LOG ======

When I looks at the location C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Device Service\ the BAS folder isn't there.

I just downloaded the installation files, so don't know what to do next.

Any advice?

Best regards,

D

Re: BES10 installation fails

Just throwing an idea out there.

Have you gone through all of the preliminary/pre-installation checks like adding the user you do the install under (preferably besadmin) to the local adminstrators group, as well as enabling the 2 local security policy settings for that user account.  Reboot when done.

I also read elsewhere that launching the Autorun.exe file from the extracted folder as administrator is preferred.

I am currently installing BES10 myself, but did not encounter the kind of problem you describe.

Do you have a space in the service account name or password?

Yes, in our password? We use this account allready for years on our current BES environment.

You'll need to change the password or use a different service account that doesn't have a space.

I had almost exactly the same problem. Removed the space from my service account's password and the installation worked flawlessly. Thanks, BD
