Blackberry Z10 conflict with voicemail systems

I have a Blackberry Z10 and it doesn't work properly when trying to access other business voicemail systems.  We have tested the blackberry and other Samsung and IPhones and they work properly -but the blackberry doesn't.   Our phone system works the following way:

When you call in you are prompted to input the three digit extension of the person you wish to speak to - this function  works on the Z10) .   However, if you don't know the extension, you are asked if you want to access the company directory which forwards you to a directory that ask you to input the first three digits of the persons name.   This is where the Z10 fails.   You can key in the three letters you need but it always comes back with the message "There is no one by that name".   We try the same thing with a Samsung and an IPhone and they have no problems with it.  If you have one of the old blackberries it works if you hold down the ALT key but the new Z10 doesn't have an alt key we can do this.  We have tested this several times and it always does the same thing.   HELP???
