Cannot remove Universal Device Service after a failed installation

[ Edited ]

During the installation the UDS couldn't find the SQL database which was created during the installation (Even though the setup program managed to create the database?????)

So my plan was to remove the program, but i can't. It gives me the following error :

The universal device service installation failed. For more information, check the installation log files on the computer.

This error appears if i want to remove the program using the "program and features" and when i rerun the setup. But i want to remove the program, i dont give anything that the installation, i want to remove it.

Hopefully someone can answer the question above and this question : is it that badly programmed? That even a deinstallation of the program is a problem?

Edit 1 : found a kb regarding this problem http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?externalId=KB31227&sliceId=2&cmd=displayKC&d...

Still gives no pointers how to remove the program after a failed installation.

Edit 2:

Found the uninstaller, tried to run it but it stopped working (Great product!!)

Re: Cannot remove Universal Device Service after a failed installation

Hi bruun,

Have you been able to try the steps in the workaround of the KB article you referred to and create a blank database with the same name on the SQL server as the one previously used by the Universal Device Service software?

I look forward to your response.

[ Edited ]

Thank you for your reply. We reinstalled windows and manually created the database, didn't encounter any problems during the installation after manually creating the database.

But.............

After a reboot the webconsole doesn't work?????  Page not found, didn't change anything only did a reboot.

Edit : after 3 reboots it's working again....

Re: Cannot remove Universal Device Service after a failed installation

Somebody might find this usefull.

If the installation of the Universal Device Service fails and the error below appears in the init log, make sure that the IIs management console isn't installed. If it is, the setup will fail... lol

Re: Cannot remove Universal Device Service after a failed installation

And we're back.. again.. This time the Universal Device software has been installed 1,5 weeks ago, all ran without any problems... Until today, all of a sudden this error message appears :

Blackberry Fails Again

Why??? Just Why?? Seems to me Blackberry made a HUGE mistake launching this crappy software.. Even with spelling mistakes.. Applicaton... come on... this must be a joke..
