[Domino] Battery is running low and BB10 is always Forwarding data

[ Edited ]

Hi

I have here still running a z10 with actually firmware 10.1.0.2354 provider Vodafone Germany managed by a BES 10.0.

The mailsystem which I use is Lotus Notes Domino 8.5.3 and a Lotus Notes Traveler 9.0 with IF1 installed.

As I see on the Logs on my BES the z10 is forwarding data to ext service (ipp) every second.  In this situation the battery is running low as never seen before and the unit is getting very warm. In view of Lotus the mailbox is OK, no

errors etc. As a other problem the mails will not always be delivered as it should some times the mails wouldn't get pushed to the device.

Attached a snapshot from logging (my user -> z10 user name which I didn't show, my bes -> my srip  which I didn't show, his device = his bb pin which I didn't show.) The log is full of this stuff

Are there any ideas?

Re: [Domino] Battery is running low and BB10 is always Forwarding data

Hi

Have exactly the same problem here. All is fine for few devices but once it starts - all new registered devices drain battery like hell. Thought it was version bug as had that problem with 10.1. Installed 10.1.1 and all was fine for first few devices - now mayhem again. And all devices are from the same batch, the same OS, soft and model. Keeps pinging device every second sending data and draining battery.

Have you sorted that out? Or anyone else?

Regards

same problem here.. I had working device/users on a BES 10.1 server, created new accounts on a BES 10.1.1 and am now seeing the same. Although my device/account seems back to normal the battery drain is incredible. Other devices are flooding the log in the same way you've described it above..

Re: [Domino] Battery is running low and BB10 is always Forwarding data

just wondering, what settings to do you have in the email profile for Traveler? I've reduced the "days to synchronize" to 7 for the accounts with issues and it seems to help.. will keep you posted

Re: [Domino] Battery is running low and BB10 is always Forwarding data

Hi,

i checked the logs and send a dump to IBM. They said to me in the logs the machine name is stll the Version 8.5.1

So i wrote with the technican and explained him that we had updated to Domino 9.0 HFF441. I reinstalled the the  Blackberry Software after the call, nothing changed. So i get the information that we have to change the settings

in the Notes.ini

Output from the NTSActivity*.logs previously uploaded indicates that this parameter should be set:

NTS_PUSH_ENABLE_APNS=false

Please add this to the Traveler server notes.ini file and restart the Traveler server.

Meanwhile i found out that some users have "special" names for data files that they are sending. (example: sales.overview.from 03.13 till 04.13 cleared.xls) So i build them a new mail in database on Notes. Now it is running well, but i get still some errors that the mail footer is empty. The call is still open. I'll keep you informed

Re: [Domino] Battery is running low and BB10 is always Forwarding data

Isn't this notes.ini setting only related to Apple products?

We are having the same problems with some clients. The others don't sync at all or only sync the mails but not the contacts (although included in the mail file)

Yes. But this error is ok if you don't want to use any apple products.

And it says connection refused maybe because of the firewall. Z10 in connection with Traveler just sucks. I think we will stop the deployment of the new devices.

Re: [Domino] Battery is running low and BB10 is always Forwarding data

What we've noticed is that it was initial sync that was killing battery on 10.1.1. Doing that over the air is a killer and takes daaaays. So initial sync - always on wifi. WIll take hours but will settle. Depend how many days worth of email you want to keep and how big mailbox you sync. Our Traveler is on DOmino 9.0HF75. Traveler Version: 9.0.0.0 Build 201305070934. All is working fine. The only problem we have is attachments that are always passed that kills us on roaming charges. Apart from that all is good. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 goes to activate and sync all properly with the device. And we keep 7 or 14 days worth of emails on handsets.
