Effect of Receive Rules on Blackberry Device

We use BES 5.0 and Exchange 2010.  I have a user complaining because when his receive rule runs in Outlook and moves mail items form his email account to a personal folders file (Outlook pst file), the mail still remains on his Blackberry.  Has anyone run into this?  Is it normal behavior?  He feels that since the mail is moved off the server, it shoud be removed from his device as well...

Re: Effect of Receive Rules on Blackberry Device

Is that a "client only " rule ? BB does not care what Outlook has rather it syncs with mailbox/OWA.

If it is client only rule then I would say yes, it is normal behavior.

Re: Effect of Receive Rules on Blackberry Device

I think it has to be a client rule cause its moving mails to a .pst which is not possible by a server side rule.
It is normal behavior as long as Hard Deletes are not turned on.

Re: Effect of Receive Rules on Blackberry Device

This will explain a lot about reconcile and hard deletes
KB04863 - Permanent deletion of email messages in Microsoft Outlook does not reconcile to the BlackB...

link in above KB in case you missed it
KB04853 - How to enable hard deletes on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server

I have also changed the messages state size to 1000 and it cured 99% of our issues.
The performance hit and RAM increase is almost nil on the BES box.

On Device also double check:

Make sure that Wireless Reconcile is set to On. Sometimes toggling that to off, saving it, then turning it back on.
Messages Options - Email reconciliation -
Delete on Mailbox and handheld,
wireless reconcile = Yes
On conflicts = Mailbox wins.

If still not working and you moved a user mailbox.
