GAL Lookup results on 5.0

I'm running 5.0 and have been asked to sync ALL GAL information to our 700 or so devices.  I realize I don't want the entire GAL on a device so I'm offering GAL Lookup as a solution.  The problem that I'm having though, is that when I make a lookup using a device, the only information returned is the address.  Entries such as the user's phone number and department are absent from the search results.  Is there a way to map fields from AD or is there any other way to get more information from an AD user's account to display on a device?

Re: GAL Lookup results on 5.0

Bet you cant wait for OS 5.0 to be released so you can look up contacts in a public folder.

Not the best solution but it works very well offline for BB and windows um mobile things

This also teaches the user how to better manage their contacts via categories.

Also we have outlook do lookups in the personell list (copy to favorites and enable address book) and not use GAL.
HR can manage it easier from a public folder too as an added bonus.

How users update:
go to contacts
View arrange by category
Delete catagory personnel list

Goto public folders/personnel list
highlight first user
press ctrl a
Drag drop into contact folder

is this easy enough?

All of our users do it this way for the last 3 years. Also since we are on outlook 2003 we even use Outlook PCS to sync then with one click.

Re: GAL Lookup results on 5.0

I know what your experiencing, but  I have yet to find a perminent fix, so if you found one please let me know.

Our issue is, when a lookup is performed against the GAL only the email, address and fax number are displayed. No phone number information is displayed. A restart of all the services temporarly fixes the issue, but over a short period of time it happens again.

Anybody have a fix for this???

Re: GAL Lookup results on 5.0

I'm having the same issue but the other way around. I have some users with 4.x BB OS which are experiencing the same since a week. Some of them do see phone number and some of them don't . I have a Bold 9700 with OS 5 and this works fine. I'm on BES 5.
