To register a BlackBerry PlayBook or BlackBerry 10 smartphone on the ActiveSync server, an email profile needs to be assigned to an account on the BlackBerry Device Server.

The following table outlines the email profile settings that specific messaging servers require.

Step 1: Create an Email profile:

  1. Open the BlackBerry Administration console for BlackBerry Device Service.
  2. Expand Email profiles under BlackBerry Solution management.
  3. Select Create an Email Profile.
  4. Enter the name and description for the Email profile.
  5. Select Active Sync under Type.
  6. Save the profile.
  7. Select Manage email profiles under Email profiles.
  8. Select the profile and click Edit profile.
  9. Go to the Email profile settings tab and enter the FQDN of mail server/ CAS array under Server name.

    Note: When entering the FQDN of the mail server / CAS array, use the host name (for example: mail.example.com). Do not use the ActiveSync URL. 

    For Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
    , enter FQDN of CAS array.
    For Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, enter FQDN of Exchange server. If there is more than one Microsoft Exchange Server in the environment, a separate profile needs to be created for each Microsoft Exchange Server.
    For Novell GroupWise, ensure a Novel Data Synchronization server is installed in the environment (not installed by default) and use the the FQDN of the Novell DataSync server.
    For IBM Lotus Domino, use one of the following:
  • Lotus Notes Traveler 8.5.x: <FQDN of Traveler server>/servlet/traveler
  • Lotus Notes Traveler 8.5.x Upgrade Pack and 9.0: <FQDN of Traveler server>/traveler

Step 2: Associate an Email profile to user:

Option 1: Associate Email profile while creating user.

  1. Click on Create a user.
  2. Search for account using Email Address or Messaging server display name and select the account.
  3. Select Email profile from the drop-down under Email profile name.

Option 2: Associate Email account to existing account.

  1. Select the user.
  2. Go to Email profiles tab
  3. Click Edit user and associate Email profile.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2007: Associate Email profile pointing to user's mailbox server.

During wireless activation, the user will be prompted to set a password for the work perimeter. There will be a separate icon created for the work perimeter on the BlackBerry PlayBook.

can this been done also based on group ?

 

I'm creating accounts with a script and I can't set the mail profile with the BESUserAdminClient utility
