Planning an upgrade for BES 6.2 to 10.1.2

Hi there,

I'm currently planning an upgrade for BES 6.2 to 10.1.2.  My main concern at this point is that we currently do not have a HA setup for this server since it wasn’t supported at the time it came out, and our executive staff are running on this server.

So when I take down this server to do the upgrade, will the users continue to receive their email because of activesync?  Or will that stop working during that time.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Planning an upgrade for BES 6.2 to 10.1.2

If your users are connected through an Enterprise WIFI or VPN profile they will connect to Activesync directly.  So the server being down will not affect them.  On any other type of connection traffic is routed through BDS and will stop when the server is shutdown.

Also if you have enabled the Network Access Control IT Policy to force all traffic through the BES then an Enterprise WIFI or VPN profile won't help.
