I am trying to find in BES 5.0 where I can change a setting related to syncing of email to a new handheld. Basically I am looking to make sure that when we deploy a new handheld it downloads the last 30 days of email. Not all new handhelds are for new users with no mail. We replace and upgrade quite often and am looking for a way to do this. I don't know why but I always thought it was the default behaviour of BES to do this anyway but appears to not be the case.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The maximum you can set is 750 messages over 14 days.
Do change this option in the BAS navigate to:
Servers and components >> BlackBerry Domain >> Component view >> Email >> Instance_Email >> Click on the Messaging tab.
You can then click the "Edit Instance" link at the bottom.

in the previous picture does that mean the 200 messages and or 5 days worth of messages should populate on a BB handheld assuming there were messages to begin with on a new/replacement deployed handheld?

Yes, it'll be 200 messages or 5 days. Which ever comes first.
Message prepopulation only happens if the PIN changes for a user, or it's a new user. If it's for an existing user, you have to remove and add the user to the server again.

No, you wouldn't be able to change the PIN.
If you have already activated the user, you can simply remove them and add them again to the server, then activate.

If using the same PIN upon activation look at this KB, it also works on 5.0
