I am preparing to do the 5.0 upgrade from 220.127.116.11 to a new server using an existing database. Reading through the installation procedures seems pretty straight forward. I need to upgrade the db first and then run through the setup on the new server making sure I use the same SRP Identifier, Authentication Key, etc.
However, there is a comment at the end of the documentation that states that all users must reactivate their devices and that I need to have them do this via desktop manager or web desktop manager to receive the new SRP routing info. I am confused because it says that all users will receive the new service books automatically at the beginning of the document but then says this at the end. Do they have to reactivate?
Any help would be much appreciated as I am new to BES administration and have never done this before.

In this situation i would tackle the upgrade like this:
1. Upgrade the exisiting server to BES 4.0 SP7 (You need to be on SP7 to upgrade to BES 5 anyway)
2. Install BES 4.0.7 onto the target server and perform a knife edge cutover (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displ
3. Perform an inplace upgrade to BES 5.0
This method would ensure the users do not need to reactivate their devices.
