Upgrade to BES 10.2 - How it works?

[ Edited ]

Hello everybody,

BES 10.2 released just now. Our servers are rurrently running BES 10.1.3. Can I simply override the actual installation or where can I find a workaround? Anybody updated yet?

thanks for reply

Okay - I just read the manual and got the solution: just override the actual installation with the *.exe-file.

Re: Upgrade to BES 10.2 - How it works?

Hmm got a couple of servers with problems during the upgrade to 10.2 (all from 10.1.3).

The installer stops with the error:

Found the cached install path for the previous version. C:\Windows\Installer\49c2eb8.msi.

<#02>[20000] (12/03 15:30:47.391):{0x2C8C} [CLangDataCon::GetString]: Localized string cannot be found, defaulting to English.

fixed it by running the following command:

C:\Windows\Installer>msiexec /x 49c2eb8.msi PF_RIM=1

I'm still guesing what the exact problem is, all is pointing to not be able to deinstall the Web Desktop manager.

Re: Upgrade to BES 10.2 - How it works?

@knottyrope

So what if you have an environment with:

1 BES 10 Administration Consoles Components

2 BES 10 Core component servers (HA)

So the manual states...

- First turn of automatic failover...

- then upgrade the BES10 Core components on the standby server.

- perform a manual failover...

This cannot be executed on the BAS console...cause the database has been update and the BAS cannot connect to the database......

??

Hi,

i also had the same problem when upgrading from 10.1.2 to 10.2.0.

But my log showed another msi file.

After removing it the way with C:\Windows\Installer>msiexec /x name-of-msi.msi PF_RIM=1

I ran the isntall again and ended up with the same error but another msi file mentioned. I located all msi files with the same date like the one in the logfile, checked that they are all from RIM and uninstalled them the way Martijn mentioned. After that the upgrade to 10.2.0 went on and also the 10.2.4 update went fine.

Just for the records if someone elese runs into an error code1622 during BES upgrade.
