Hi people, I'm a newbie here, on the forum as well as with a Blackberry, and I'm having major trouble getting the Desktop Software to work with my 7100. I know it's an old phone, but if anyone at all can help me out I would be really grateful! Here's the info you might need:
7100 V126.96.36.199 (Platform 188.8.131.52), I've also got software that I downloaded from this site (not the forum, the Blackberry main site), and here are those details:
I've installed these, and none have worked. I get the small icon in the taskbar to say that the phone is connected but I then get told that there is now software loader.
How on Earth do I get my phone connected to my PC? Am I doing something wrong? Oh yè, here's the PCs specs, too: XP Pro Serv Pack 2, AMD 1.83 Ghz, 512 RAM.
Can anyone help me?

In your post you specified BlackBerry device software packages, it is not BB Desktop Software.
Get the latest version of BB Desktop Software here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/

On page address I provided before click on Download button.
After that select from drop-down list: BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.7
Below the list of available software will be displayed.
Select: Desktop Manager 4.7.0 B59 English - Without Media Manager
and download it.

Broken downloads it is a common known issue with Blackberry.com server.
There are a lot of complains of little speed and non-reliable channel.
But appearingly RIM does not care about this.
If you search this forum you'll find a lot issues like yours. Issues with broken downloads.
To resolve this - try to download until you get a correct downloaded file.

For example I downloaded BB Desktop Software several times before I get correct downloaded files.
You need a bit of patience and luck to get a file downloaded correctly from blackberry.com site
