7100: Problems with Deskstop Software

Hi people, I'm a newbie here, on the forum as well as with a Blackberry, and I'm having major trouble getting the Desktop Software to work with my 7100. I know it's an old phone, but if anyone at all can help me out I would be really grateful! Here's the info you might need:

7100 V4.0.2.35 (Platform 1.8.0.138), I've also got software that I downloaded from this site (not the forum, the Blackberry main site), and here are those details:

7100E_PBr4.0.0_rel274_PL1.8.0.129_A4.0.0.219-CNG,

7100E_PBr4.1.0_rel314_PL1.8.0.144_A4.1.0.292_Cingular,

7100E_PBrER4.1.0_rel556_PL1.8.0.154_A4.1.0.377_AWS,

I've installed these, and none have worked. I get the small icon in the taskbar to say that the phone is connected but I then get told that there is now software loader.

How on Earth do I get my phone connected to my PC? Am I doing something wrong? Oh yè, here's the PCs specs, too: XP Pro Serv Pack 2, AMD 1.83 Ghz, 512 RAM.

Can anyone help me?

Re: 7100: Problems with Deskstop Software

In your post you specified BlackBerry device software packages, it is not BB Desktop Software.

Get the latest version of BB Desktop Software here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/

Re: 7100: Problems with Deskstop Software

On page address I provided before click on Download button.

After that select from drop-down list: BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.7

Below the list of available software will be displayed.

Select: Desktop Manager 4.7.0 B59 English - Without Media Manager

and download it.

Re: 7100: Problems with Deskstop Software

I've downloaded it, tried to run it, but it stops and says its not a valid Win32 Application - doesn't even start unzipping the file. Should I try with WinRAR?

Tried RAR, no joy. Should I try and download it again?

Re: 7100: Problems with Deskstop Software

Broken downloads it is a common known issue with Blackberry.com server.

There are a lot of complains of little speed and non-reliable channel.

But appearingly RIM does not care about this.

If you search this forum you'll find a lot issues like yours. Issues with broken downloads.

To resolve this - try to download until you get a correct downloaded file.

Re: 7100: Problems with Deskstop Software

For example I downloaded BB Desktop Software several times before I get correct downloaded files.

You need a bit of patience and luck to get a file downloaded correctly from blackberry.com site Smiley Happy
