8100 Pearl - Does not initialize

My device 8100 pearl is having problems starting  up.  For as long as the battery stays, the phone automatically starts trying to boot, fails doing so and shuts down with the red LED blinking at the right corner. This process keeps cycling without ever reaching the stage of the desktop showing up. I have tried reloading the operating system (after dowmloading the desktop manager and the OS from the vendor site, but without sucess. Can anybody please help.
