8120 Desktop Manager

I just inherited a BB Pearl 8120 from a friend.  She didn't give me any of the software that came with it so I set out to download it.  The problem is, I'm not sure what the most current version of the desktop manager software the 8120 will support.

I tried downloading 5.0 and it installed ok, but it doesn't seem to recognize that my BB is connected to my computer.  In the Desktop Manager software in the bottom left corner it says, "Device connected (PIN): None".  If I click on the word "None", I see that the connection type is set to USB.   When I look at the BlackBerry Device Manager connection settings, it says COM1 is disconnected.  I can change the configuration, but it isn't making a difference.

My computer did recognize the device when I first pluged it in and I could browse to it through explorer.  But after a minute or so, I can no longer see any files there.

So I'm thinking I just have the wrong version of the Desktop Manager software.  Can anyone direct me to the correct version?

Thanks!

Cara

Re: 8120 Desktop Manager

The latest version of DM 5.0 is the correct version.

Re: 8120 Desktop Manager

Thanks JSanders!  I tried the tips on that post and I'm not sure which one of them did they trick but it's working now.

I noticed yesterday that there was an update for DM, so I went ahead and installed that with my BB disconnected.   Then I plugged the USB cable into the back of the computer instead of one of the USB ports on the front and it recognized it right away.  I was able to successfully sync my BB up with my Yahoo calendar, contacts and notes with no problems!
