8320 Wifi Problems :(

Hi guys, I'm a total newbie.
I have this annoying problem. My Curve 8320 won't do a wifi connection in my home wifi network and all free hotspot wifi I mean all free hotspot wifi!

Blackberry recognizes the network but comes up with Reason: Failed to associate with the network
I've search every forum threads about this problem and it seems none of them solve my problem. (Battery pull, Hotspot browser, Router's firewall, etc)

Everything else if fine, I've got a bb data plan and my 8320 works like a charm sending/receiving email, browsing bb messenger but this wifi problem annoys me so much... Smiley Sad

Sorry for my bad english I currently live in Indonesia and I'm using Unlocked AT & T 8320 device

And one more thing it seems that Options->About in my bb is not responding I did clicked it but nothing happens so I retrieve these informations using ALT-CAP+H Shortcut
Infos about my 8320:
Vendor ID: 102
Platform: 2.6.0.92
App Version: 4.5.0.124 (174)

Core Applications:
BlackBerry 4.5.0 Core Applications (4.5.0)
BlackBerry 4.5.0 System Software (4.5.0)
BlackBerry MDS Runtime (4.5.0.20)

Thanks in advance guys

Re: 8320 Wifi Problems :(

since your ABOUT option is not working, indicates that there are OS issue. You might want to reinstall your OS.

you could also try turning off your wireless radio(manage connections) then connect to wireless

Re: 8320 Wifi Problems :(

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I was trying to roll back using Older OS (lower than 4.5) and I accidentally pulled out the usb cable while doing so...my bb went blank with just a blinking red light. It took me hours to search a thread on how to revive a "nuked' bb (that's what they call it) and it almost gave me a heart attack. Smiley Very Happy

I wiped it clean and then downloading 8320EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel174_PL2.7.0.92_A4.5.0.124_Indosat.exe

Still got the same problem, can see all the wifi network but my bb won't connect. It's driving me nuts.

Changed the router channel on my home network, reset it etc. Use different security setting (WEP, WPA etc) and I even tried not to use a security setting at all. Still got the same problem.

Thanks

I have the same phone, and I'm having the same W002 error.  Unlocked T-Mobile 8320.  Latest software.

Does anyone from BB Tech support monitor these boards?

I have traffic snooped (logs below). It seems that the router is TRYING to give out an IP address, but I can't tell what the problem is, not being a BB or network expert.

So, it seems that the Blackberry gets valid DHCP information, but doesn't "like" it or doesn't acknowledge it.

Re: 8320 Wifi Problems :(

So...some more information.  My 8320 is an unlocked one from ebay.  I put my T-mo prepaid SIM in and phone/SMS is good, but Wifi went away.

I called T-Mobile, and I was told that a prepaid service is "not eligible" for WiFi access.

They said if I went month-to-month or contract, Wifi would work.  Since I only use ~100 min/month, prepaid works for me, and going month-to-month pretty much triples my monthly cost.  I don't expect free use of T-mobile's network (cell/edge) but I do expect free use of MINE (WiFi) ! Customer service rep "understands my disappointment", but basically says that the policy and if I don't like it I can leave.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?  Anyway, I have a decision to make:  1) Start paying $30/month 2) Live without WiFi, 3) Switch carriers)

My goal is to have a phone/pda with a  LogicMail email client when I'm in a Wifi range. Low monthly cost is pretty important.

Re: 8320 Wifi Problems :(

I have a 8320 Blackberry and experience the same issue. when I insert my prepaid SIM card inside my Blackberry, I will lose the wifi connectivity. I am using Rogers prepaid SIM card. I amwondering if there is any ways to work around the issue. Please let us know how we can make it work.

Thanks

Re: 8320 Wifi Problems :(

[ Edited ]

I have had similar problems with WiFi with a prepaid SIM (t-mobile US).

I have since upgraded to 4.5.0.81, did a master clear, and did a battery pull.  Not sure which part worked, but WiFi works for me on most networks now.

So WiFi DOES work with t-mo to-go, no matter what T-mo support says.

Re: 8320 Wifi Problems :(

I had the same problem but found a solution. Go to your options icon, then advanced options, then browser. The default browser configuration needs to be set to Hot Spot browser. Now I can use my home wifi network and any other network even though I have a prepaid service plan. Hope this helps the rest of you!

Re: 8320 Wifi Problems :(

Sorry, my first post is not showing all the way on my computer.

I want to make sure its all posted.

I have the blackberry curve 8320 with prepaid service and

was having the same problem.

Go to options, then to advanced options, then to browser.

Make sure the default browser configuration is set to

hot spot browser.

This worked for me, I can now use the wifi through my home service

or any other service.

Hope this helps the rest of you!
