8520 hangs

I have a Blackberry Curve 8520, running OS (bundle 1682). I have had this phone for more than two years and all has been working well. Since last week, my phone keeps hanging or I get exception errors on many different applications including phone, BBM, Appworld.... I have been through many forums and a reinstall of the OS seemed to be the solution. I tried reinstalling using desktop software. I did a backup and reinstalled. It worked OK for a while, but again has been showing similar problems of hanging.
