8800 keeps rebooting, then won't read sim until I remove and replace it.

When I'm using my new 8800, the sceen will go black (and if I'm on a call it goes silent). Then the red light flashes before the screen comes back on (to what I was doing before it turned off), but the sim card stops working (I get no signal) and it says something like "memory card removed". I have to turn it off, remove the sim and place it back in for the sim to be read again.

This has happened multiple times.

How can I solve this problem?!

Thank you.

when the device is ON - remove the battery, wait a minute and turn the battery back.

I've done this, and it fixes the initial problem of the sim card...but I want the blackberry to stop shutting down when I'm in the middle of using it! It has occurred multiple times and is a real nuisance. Is it a software problem perhaps?

Re: 8800 keeps rebooting, then won't read sim until I remove and replace it.

To check is it a software problem do the following.

Backup all your sensitive data via BB Desktop Software.

Important: Use "Advanced" feature of backup mechanism and save only  information which is necessary.

Go to Options - Security Options - General Settings

open menu and select "Wipe handheld"

it will wipe the device memory from saved data, applications will remain.

Now check the device and restore your data.
