My wife got her new 9700 with Bell Wireless and noticed the "i" key wasn't working all the time. Closer inspection/trial shows that it only responds when certain areas of the key are pressed, and the raised ridge where the thumb falls naturally does not respond well at all.
Would you say this is faulty and the device should have been replaced? (it was only 2 days after receiving the new 9700).
Here are 2 videos I made of the problem. Not the best but should at least show it.

if the phone is only a couple of days old i think i would be inclined to return it to your carrier and ask for a replacement phone as this is not normal....
I would also suggest following the above. It sounds like there may be a faulty contact with that one key, and since the phone is brand new, you'd might as well take it in and swap it out for another. They should have no problems just giving you a new one right away.
