9780 Gmail requires constant verification



I previously had a curve 8520 where my email worked well.  The phone died and I upgraded to the bold 9780.  Now my Gmail account doesnt work. It constantly asks to verify the account password and to turn on IMAP settings from the Gmail website.


IMAP is activated (as it worked on the 8520) and I have double checked the settings on the website and phone so there shouldn't be a problem there. I have resent the service books and  I have contacted orange customer services who moved the account from the 8520 to the 9780. But i'm still asked to verify my password and turn on IMAP settings.


Anyone have any ideas?
