APPS and their PERMISSIONS

Someone PLEZZZz explain why a Flashlight App (for example) needs permission to access your contacts, Email and other personal areas...  along with access to the internet (and so on)

before it will enable itself to work.

Is there work-a-round for these kind of apps?

...and does anyone know of a good flashlight app that doesn't require these delicate permissions just to provide light?

I would never consider giving programs on my PC free reign.

I'm certainly not going to do it on my Torch.

I really would like a rational explanation if someone has one!

Re: APPS and their PERMISSIONS

Why don't you ask the app developer? They all have email addresses.

My guess:

Internet - to download ads, if the app is ad-supported.

Email - does the app have an in-app option to send feedback via email?

Just search on "flashlight" in App World, and you'll see lots of apps to choose from.
