AT&T Torch 9810 issues

I have had my 9810 since January of this year and have mostly been very happy with it (switched to AT&T to get it)


Recently, I have been experiencing 2 possibly related problems, now on a replacement 9810 as well.  When in almost any app, there will be times when the phone is unresponsive, with or without the watch showing up, for as long as 15-20 seconds at a time, includes turning the phone and not having the screen rotate.  The second appears to be a GPS issue, mostly in Blackberry Traffic.  While driving, actually has happened sitting still, the GPS will go to red noGPS, and then almost immediatly back to normal, but it will also annouce GPS signal has been lost.


AT&T Torch 9810 running (2404), w/ 16GB media card

Apps in the switch app menu: Home, Messages, Twitter for BB, Drivesafe.ly (off unless using headset), VQ Mileage Tracker Pro, BBM, Browser, phone, GoogleVoice and Slide2Open Pro.


Like I said above, AT&T has already replace my device, and I am experiencing the same issue.  I have not reinstalled many of the unneeded apps that I had before, but still have the issue.


Any help would be appreciated...

On device go to Options, Device, Application Management is a great way to see what your apps are doing with your CPU usage on Smartphone. Just slide top bar to CPU and see what is going on. Also touch the CPU menu to see other time variables. I found out that an app was eating away CPU cycles on mine

Disable Compression on media card? go to Options, Device, Storage

using a custom theme? try it for a day the factory default one to rule out your theme

remember the esc key closes most apps, except for GPS and some chat clients. the other apps need to use menu and then exit or close. The farthest key to the right is a home key and does not close any apps per se but will end calls.

Great info on the application management screen, I thought that was only in 7.1


I will have to keep an eye on that screen and see what I can find.  Not sure how exactly it will help while the device is frosty, but I'll see what I can see.


I am pretty careful about actually closing applications rather than just putting them in the background.  The apps that are running are ones that I know are always running.


Also no custom theme in use or even installed.  Pretty much used only for work, so no games (even deleted the included ones), and nothing entertainment related other than Scoremobile (not runnning) and Pandora (also not running).
