Add numbers to existing contacts

[ Edited ]

My son called me on a different number to the one already stored on my phone and i want to add it to his name, short of going back to the 90's and writing it down and then physcially adding it to his name i can't see any other way of doing this.

Can anyone help please.

Re: Add numbers to existing contacts

You don't need to write it down!

a. Scroll over the number in the call log and copy it (Menu > Copy).

Open the Address book > edit existing contact > Menu > paste in the proper field

b. I purchased the third party application Add to Contact for just this reason, it's so easy.

Re: Add numbers to existing contacts

We know about this multi-step alternative method, but it shouldn't be this difficult. Every other smartphone platform has an "Add to Existing Contact" option. I am shocked that RIM has neglected this very important feature on a "professional/business" smartphone platform. Here we are at version 5 and they still have not implemented this feature.

Sometimes I don't have time to highlight/copy/open contacts/find item/edit/paste and wind up adding duplicate contacts anyway.

It's very frustrating.
