Address book freezes on 9900 when saving

Running OS 7.1.0.746 on the Rogers Network

Everytime I add or edit a contact and press "save" the phone freezes for up to a minute before I can use it again.

This also happens when inviting or accepting a new BBM contact. (BBM 7)

I've already done a OS re-load and a re-install of BBM 7.

Can anyone offer any help or suggestions?

Hi Dan,

What apps are you using on your Bold 9900? I seem to recall that one or more can cause issues with the Address Book, etc.

If you can provide a list, I'll see if I can track down which one(s) might be potential culprits.

Oh, by the way, I DID delete the social feeds app. I doubt that could be the cause though.

If you don't use the various messenger services (e.g. Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and MSN Messenger), delete those. The Yahoo app has been known to cause some issues with the Contacts app, so that is a possibility. Some of the others can cause memory leaks, but none really stand out as being the likely cause.

Just as an off hand comment, your application memory is a bit low... is that right after a battery pull or did you just check at a random time?

I un-installed Yahoo, Google Chat ans MSN Chat.
Application Storage Freee Space is 118.4 after battery pull.

Issue still present.

Krypto, I might have found the culprit. It may be that the Rogers Visual Voice Mail App is conflicting with the contacts/address book.

I noticed that this app has been a real bother since my carrier added it... Freezing, locking up etc when used. I deleted the app, re-booted the device and attempted several address book tests and received no freezing.

I'm going to contact Rogers Wireless now to see what their tech support has to say.

Follow Up-

I installed the Rogers Visual Voice Mail app and the problems reappeared. I uninstalled the app and phone functions normally again.

Application memory increased to 124.9 MB

Rogers Wireless (Canada) tech support confirms many issues with the app across all platforms (Droid/Apple/BB) so it appears we have found the culprit.
