Have you tried to run the alarm with different profiles?
Not sure, but what if a profile settings affects on that.

I had this problem when I got my 8900.
Fixed it by changing the default alarm tone from the Alarm Options. It should ring after that.
Also, you can set multiple alarms by going to the calendar and clicking option > New Alarm.
