My girlfriend just got the BlackBerry Torch 9800. She updated the twitter app wich is on the phone. It restarted and now it just shows "App Error 603".
When I try to Reset It just goes back to same page with the same error.
I already tried force detect with the application loader no succes.

I have had my torch for about a monh now. Every time I update an app and a reboot is required I get this error. The only way to resolve is to do a clean OS install. I have even wiped all backups in DM, but it still does it.
I love the phone but this error is starting to get a bit tedious now! Is it a known issue and is their a fix?

Hi there I posted in the welcome section late last night with an issue I’m having with my new Blackberry Torch, but I thought I might post here as well after seeing “hatchback’s” advise on doing a clean install which I think will work with the problem I’m having.
I've very stupidly deleted the Social Feeds software by mistake that comes installed on the 6 OS version on the Torch handset.
This is my first Blackberry and my carrier is Vodafone, here in the UK.
I've backed up my phone, but only after I had deleted the Social Feeds software (the icon is still there, but I can't do anything with it and when I click on the icon it shows the error message “Error starting net_rim_bb_feeds: null”).
I've not installed may apps (mainly free ones), so its no great loss or difficulty to reinstall them but what I have installed is now backed up on my laptop. The only thing I’m a bit concerned about losing are my contacts.
I’m going to try and attempt the clean install when I get home later. However, I have a few questions before I go ahead:
Sorry to be such a pain with the description and I hope I’ve not complicated it by giving so much detail, but would be really grateful for any help or advice.

You should be able to reload the social feeds app in DM 6.0, just click on 'applications' on the left hand side. The back up wont change any of the apps, but may remove some of the feeds within the social feeds app.
DM6 is better than the previous versions.

I downloaded the DM 6 and it's definately better than the DM version I had before, but it still won't let me do a total clean of my Torch as per hatchbacks instruction link and the Social Feeds isn't in the applications on DM 6 as it's part fo the original software that was loaded on the phone. So it looks like I am going to have to take my handset back into Vodafone for them to reload it for me.
But thanks for the help and advise you gave me and I'll add kudos points to you and hatchback too.

APP error 603 can come from following problems.
First if change from for example BB 9700 to torch you can not take a backup of 9700 and a restore tp 9800.
You have to use the switch device option in desktopmaneger 6. Don't transfer als 3 party apps from BB 9700 to 9800.
If you have a gmail installed make sure that gmail adres is installed true email setup on bb. If it is installed true www.yourprovider.blackberry.com. Remove this give APP ERROR 603 problems.

well.. this is the umpteenth number of times i must have re-installed the new OS 6 on my phone and to be very honest , i'm wondering is it the phone that needs a total replacement or is it still just a software issue..
anything from the slightest of change in the apps to upgrade to downloading a fresh software, triggers this dreaded-virus-like app 603 error..
its amazing to see how blackberry folks are so calm over this issue.. it's quite a huge ... and i mean really huge and humongous error on their end to still not have a fool-proof way to rectify this.. and i'm sure there are surely enough a lot of users around facing the same issue but just being a bit quite about it..
@ hansdg : sorry but i did not understand your last sentence.. what was that u were mentioning of gmail adress could u elaborate a little more please!?
i'm on vodafone network and i always go through email setup from the options menu to configure my email.. is that alright to do so!?
i do have gmail plug in, but i guess that's there by default.. what is your take on it!!??
anyone.. please help!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same App Error 603 that comes up, which requires a reboot, i've tried to perform a clean reload of the device software but the Desktop Manager cannot connect to the device.
How can you perform the clean reload of the device, if the Desktop Manager cannot connect to the device ?
