App World - My World - "Starting Download"

I have an app ( Bluff my Call ) in "My World" that is stuck in "Starting Download." I never even inititated this app and cannot get it to go away. It is slowing down my Storm for Emails, web and other data based functions. My available memory has dropped down to 12 MB free from 33 MB because of this app. I have tried all of the steps listed in a reply to another user on the boards with no success. After unistalling/reinstalling, my available memory starts at 33 MB but slowly dwindles down to 12 MB. The steps I have tried (3 times now) are:

Please try removing and re-installing AppWorld...some have reported that to be helpful. In addition...RIM has released AppWorld version is highly recommended to be on that version.

Also please try a hard reset: With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

In addition, you can try this sequence:

1) Remove AppWorld from your BB (Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Applications) -- if it requests that you reboot the BB, do so.

2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot as described above.

3) Get a new link and install a fresh copy of AppWorld

  • Again, if it requests to reboot, do so.

4) Do another Batt-Pull reboot

5) See if it now works.

Please help me if you know of another solution. My BB Storm is almost in "Paper weight" mode

Re: App World - My World - "Starting Download"

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

Another user has found a solution to this problem and posted it in these forums...it is to clear the application cache:

1. Open App World

2. Go to My World

3a. For keyboard-based BB's -- Hold down the ALT key and then press, in sequence R, then S, then T

3b. For Storm/Pearl -- Hold the num-lock (!?123) button so it locks and then press, in sequence 3, then 4, then (

3a. If your BB locks after issuing the cache clear, perform a battery pull reboot

Hopefully it'll work for you! Good luck and let us know!

Re: App World - My World - "Starting Download"

I called the Verizon Blackberry specialist and she said my problem was with application provider and to call their technical support.  I tried your suggestion and it worked like a charm.  Thank you very much!
